Kate Harrington

Managing Director

Kate, a founding member of the  practice since its inception in 2006 and instrumental to the business incorporation.  She enjoyed the honour of attending the House of Commons in 2010, in acknowledgement and recognition of her being in the first 100 Chartered Legal Executives to secure partnership within a legal practice.

With 30 years experience in criminal justice, Kate has the role of Managing Director and  leads and supports the team using her wealth of knowledge and expertise.

Together with her business Director, Kate has relentlessly developed Penfold and McPherson’s reputation.  In doing so, the team have earned the respect of colleagues, fellow professionals, experts and clients alike, on a national basis.

Kate’s breadth of experience derives from past conduct of the whole spectrum of criminal cases and challenges, and has nationwide contacts with leading experts and barristers who will bring a specialist knowledge to each individual case.

The essence of Kate’s approach is simply to ensure justice to each and all of her clients.  She understands that, to many, finding themselves on the wrong side of the law is a daunting and often overwhelming experience, and dedicates much of her time to addressing these issues. Her priority is to ensure that each client receives confident, professional and accurate legal advice within a context that provides them with the maximum amount of reassurance and support. Her experience and technical expertise allows her to guide clients and steer cases to the best possible outcome in each and every case.

Ed Stott

Director

Ed first qualified as a Solicitor in 2009 and joined Penfold and McPherson in 2012 having been selected by founding partners Graeme McPherson and Bob Penfold to regenerate and move the Practice forward.

Ed was jointly responsible for the firm’s incorporation in 2015.

He has now worked together with his business Director since 2012 as Penfold and McPherson Ltd has gone from strength to strength.

Ed heads up the Magistrates Court department and can be found on a daily basis at Basingstoke Magistrates Court dealing with all aspects of criminal cases. He has excellent experience and has gained a reputation as an exceptional advocate with good client care skills.

He has a real passion for dealing with Youth Defendants and those with Mental Health Issues. He will always fight for his Clients especially the most vulnerable in society to ensure that no matter what the allegation they are given the best representation to ensure a just and fair outcome.

Philip McCann

Senior Solicitor

Philip joined Penfold and McPherson in 2014 and qualified as a solicitor in 2011. He is now one of our most experienced Magistrates’ Court advocates and appears in our local Courts, and further afield regularly representing the best interests of his clients.

Since qualification, however, Philip has concentrated his time predominantly on providing quality advice and assistance at the police stations and appearing regularly in the Magistrates’ Court. In this time, he has gained and maintained an excellent reputation as a trial advocate, securing notable results when dealing with sentences, bail applications and various ancillary applications.

Philip is a dedicated member of our out of hours team who will be on hand to represent you at the police station day or night and is greatly experienced in police station investigation matters.

Nikki McLoughlin

Office Manager

Nikki qualified as a fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 2010, so is now in an excellent position to manage the office. She will be your first port of call for all telephone enquiries and is always on hand, to offer helpful guidance and assistance throughout your case.
